The YMCA is one of the largest social service agencies serving Washington D.C., suburban Maryland and northern Virginia. Here's a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this great team of professionals. We are recruiting for an experienced grants writer with work experience in the non-profit sector.


As the Association Director of Grants and Contracts, you will report to the Vice President of Philanthropy and be an integral member of a six person Development team.


Responsibilities of this position will include:

Driving a comprehensive program for researching, prospecting, writing and securing unrestricted and restricted operating revenue from individual, foundation and corporate sources. While this is a busy fast paced position, it's also exciting and fulfilling knowing you are making a difference in the lives of so many people. Included responsibilities are submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing philanthropic grants; providing research and prospect due diligence; CRM management in Sales Force and Wealth Engine. This position supports multiple YMCA Branches with managing and writing all grants, reports and evaluations in collaboration with program officers. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage proposals to philanthropic foundation and corporate sources in a timely and accurate manner, effectively communicating YMCA of Metropolitan DC’s multifaceted mission.


Job qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and fundraising certification a plus, minimum of three years’ experience with non-profit grant writing; experience with proposal writing and institutional donors; excellent written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals; strong editing skills; attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; and able to monitor and meet income goals. NOTE: Some weekend work is required for special YMCA events, and working at home and some evenings is necessary to complete assignments.
