The Community Engagement Associate will work in collaboration with the Executive Director 1) to identify, cultivate, solicit, track and steward individuals, foundations, businesses and other organizations in order to raise funds to support the organization’s mission, though meetings, events, letter campaigns and other appeals and 2) articulate to the community through various channels including digital, print media, and in-person the value and accessibility of DSC services in order to encourage use of them by people and groups of all demographics; and 3) coordinate logistics for DSC training seminars and events.

DSC, based in Carrboro (Orange County) is North Carolina’s original community mediation center, founded in 1978.  Its six staff and forty volunteers provide mediation, facilitation, training, and restorative justice services to about 3000 people per year. DSC’s budget is $650,000. Our focus is Orange County and the Triangle area, but we work statewide and nationally as needed. 

Please apply if you have 1) an ability to speak passionately about conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative justice; 2) 2 years of progressive experience with development including use of donor database platforms; 3) have strong and demonstrable digital and print media communications skills; 4) think strategically and execute on details; 5) strong ties to diverse communities in Orange County or proven ability to make them; 6) value working collaboratively on a small team with shared responsibilities; and 6) a commitment to anti-racist practices.
