Job Title: Fair Housing Intake Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Finance and Operations

FLSA Status: Regular 

Hours: 20 hours / week - mostly afternoons

Summary Under moderate supervision provides initial intake services to fair housing clients, supports the work of other client services staff and performs general administrative duties. Directs incoming calls and processes general voice mail box. Aid fair housing staff with overflow of administrative work, including minimal word processing, routine client correspondence(phone and email), data entry, filing, email and Internet research projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide general information to people who contact HOME because they feel illegal housing discrimination has occurred. .

Provides coverage of the front desk, answering phones (moderate call volume) and client intake assistance. Assist clients with the basic forms and instructions. Minimal data entry, internet and word processing. 

Assist with projects such as mass mailings and educational materials inventory/storage.

Provide basic administrative support to fair housing staff and board committees. 

Additional Responsibilities

Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word & Outlook, in particular). Basic understanding of relational databases, email and Internet research. 

Working knowledge of office equipment like printers, office phone systems, copiers, scanners and fax machines

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

Attention to detail and problem solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task


High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required. Administrative Certificate, Associate Degree or higher preferred. Superior communication skills to greet people in a professional manner at all times. Proficiency in computer familiarity and skills. Experience working with a non-profit organization is helpful, but not required.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
