Volunteer Program and Office Coordinator, INTERNATIONAL HOUSE DAVIS, DAVIS, CA
Compensation: $17/hour. This is a 35 hour per week non-exempt position.
I-House is seeking an Office and Volunteer Coordinator. This position will be a welcoming face that serves as the first point of contact with visitors and the public, as well as providing key support to the long-standing Volunteer Program and administrative support to the organization. Responsibilities include volunteer recruitment, correspondence, training and scheduling. This role will be responsible for financial transactions, including membership registration and ticketing. Office support will include important public-facing duties such as serving as the point of contact for visitors, answering phone and in-person inquiries, and maintaining office files, records, and supplies as needed.This position requires excellent attention to detail as well as strong interpersonal communication skills. Must be regularly available during office hours, Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create a welcoming and warm experience for all I-House visitors. Positively engage visitors and members by responding to inquiries, providing organizational and event information, and responding appropriately to guest suggestions and concerns
Generate interest in I-House offerings by effectively explaining them to visitors; suggest events, programs, and membership offerings to visitors
Assist in volunteer identification, coordination, and retention efforts including planning and management of ongoing volunteer programs such as instruction classes and the International House Festival
Assist in development and implementation of goals and objectives for the Volunteer Program which reflect the mission of I-House
Update as needed training manual and guide for volunteers
Recruit, train and supervise volunteers
Assist in developing, administering and reviewing policies and procedures which guide the volunteer programs and services
Assist in identifying volunteer assignments that provide meaningful engagement with I-House mission and activities
Write descriptions for volunteer and intern positions
Ensure volunteers and interns follow check in procedures and record hours
Assist in planning and implementation of activities to recognize volunteers
Act as point of contact for visitors and guests of I-House, answering phone and in person requests as needed, including financial transactions (class and membership registration, donations, ticketing)
Assist in identifying potential members and/or volunteers based on visitor interests
Provide effective customer service in-person, over the phone, and via email
Maintain office functionality (filing, equipment and supply maintenance, and other tasks as needed).
Enter, gather, and pull information from database as needed/requested
Other duties as assigned
College degree or related work experience
Experience with volunteers and/or event management a plus
Must be skilled in operation of standard computer equipment and software, Altru database a plus
Strong communication skills with diverse constituents.
