CAP is currently hiring for a Donor Stewardship Coordinator. The Donor Stewardship Coordinator is a new position at CAP and will play a critical role in securing financial support for the work of Cascade AIDS Project (CAP). This position, in conjunction with the Director of Development & Communications, will develop and implement CAP’s individual giving, sponsorship, and in-kind strategies by engaging with CAP donors, volunteers, sponsors, and other community members. The Donor Stewardship Coordinator will oversee the annual giving program, help to create annual fundraising goals, develop and execute strategies to cultivate relationships, manage annual campaigns, and research new partnerships. They will have their own portfolio of donors and prospects and be expected to solicit gifts up to $5,000. This position supports the activities of the Development & Communications Department and participates in team meetings and events.


This position is part of CAP’s Development & Communications Department, and reports to the Director of Development & Communications. It is full-time, with some evening and weekend work required. The Development Associate will work at CAP’s Portland, Davis Street office. (During the COVID-19 pandemic, the position will be remote until further notice.)


Required Qualifications:

•            Either:

o            2+ years of annual giving experience working in a nonprofit development department with a successful track record of securing donations, or

o            Equivalent, clearly demonstrated experience with relationship building and soliciting gifts

•            Demonstrates a high degree of interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; shows an ability to engage authentically and effectively with different audiences including community members, staff, board, volunteers, funders, and other stakeholders

•            Ability and willingness to ask for financial support; skilled at communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to write proposals and reports, prepare and deliver presentations, create donor materials, and converse in one-on-one meetings

•            Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking abilities and willingness to seek innovative solutions

•            Ability to take initiative and use good judgement; be self-directed and accountable; ability to maintain confidentiality

•            Ability to develop long-term plans and strategies, set objectives, and track progress towards achieving objectives

•            Demonstration of project management and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce timely, accurate work with a positive and professional demeanor

•            Authentic interest in Cascade AIDS Project’ mission and work

•            Strong understanding of equity, inclusion, and social justice

•            Must be available to work evening and weekends

•            Proficiency with office technology and information systems (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

•            Strong team player able to work effectively with colleagues across various teams



Preferred Qualifications:

•            Experience in supporting a development team during major fundraising events

•            Experience with CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) platforms such as Salesforce

•            Commitment to continued professional development to strengthen capacity to work through an equity lens for social justice.
