The Older Child Adoption & Permanency Movement, Inc. is searching for a PART-TIME ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MAJOR GIFTS Ready for a job that makes a profound difference in the lives of children? You Gotta Believe is a leading child-welfare, non-profit organization with expertise in adoption and permanency planning for at risk foster youth. YGB is the only organization in the NYC area with the exclusive mission of finding adoptive parents for foster youth before they age out and run the extremely high risk of homelessness, incarceration and life-long poverty due to a lack of stable, long-lasting connections. YGB strives to ensure that every child leaving foster care is connected to an unconditionally committed family because no child should ever age out of the system and face adulthood alone. YGB has successfully established 450+ permanent family connections and continues their mission by collaborating with foster care agencies to recruit, match and provide comprehensive support to adoptive foster parents throughout the entire process and as long as needed to ensure permanency is achieved. Description of Position YGB is looking for a part-time (21 hours/week with the opportunity for a flexible schedule) Associate Director of Major Gifts to play an integral role in elevating YGB to the next level of impact. The person in this role is responsible for advancing the mission of YGB by increasing the level of involvement and philanthropic commitment from individuals through prescribed levels of giving. This position will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs, projects, and activities designed to identify, cultivate and solicit significant philanthropic gifts through individual, MAJOR and planned gifts and to steward donors using ongoing moves management. Responsibilities • Establish donor development/engagement strategies and strengthen our major gifts program; conduct prospect research and expand the donor pool; diversify funding streams; deepen board giving. • Maintain and grow a portfolio of 100+ major donors, create opportunities for donor cultivation and stewardship, and market planned giving opportunities. Work directly with the executive director to staff her in deepening engagement with high level donors. • In coordination with other leadership, work one-on-one with board members to identify known prospects linked to each board member to introduce new prospects to YGB. Work with board members to guide them through the process and prepare talking points as needed. • Develop and monitor consistent mechanisms for reporting Major Gift Program results; work with the development committee to develop strategic plans, establish financial goals, benchmarks and reports to present to the leadership team and Board of Directors. • Partner with staff to maintain ongoing work with significant donors, encouraging multi-year solicitation, ongoing review of cultivation and stewardship plans and direct engagement of donors in YGB. • Work with respective team leads around YGB events to cultivate prospective donors, engage with current donors and revitalize past donors. • Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving to establish annual fundraising goals. •Facilitate the cultivation of fundraising events, special donor recognition events, and events for specific fundraising campaigns. •Assist with communications such as annual reports; development and communications sections of the website and newsletters; and ensure that data is entered into our donor database. •Complete the appropriate follow-up after meetings and visits in a timely manner, including action/call reports using Network for Good, thank you letters, and responses to special requests from prospects. • Stay abreast of philanthropy trends and issues affecting philanthropy in all established interest areas of YGB. • This position has the room to grow with the potential to become involved in marketing and outreach efforts and to manage two marketing and social media consultants. • This position offers vacation and sick time, as well as participation in YGB’s 403(b) plan. Qualifications/Requirements At least 7 years of major gift fundraising experience with demonstrated success in personal solicitations of $1,000 plus. Ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative with minimal supervision. Must be highly skilled in donor cultivation, and possess excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills. Candidates must have the ability to identify and engage high-net-worth individual donor prospects. An openness and eagerness to learn and develop both personal and professional skills in a team oriented and collaborative environment is essential. Ability to work in a close-knit multi-cultural workplace in which a priority is placed on maintaining a positive, supportive and inclusive culture. Personal experience with the child welfare system (foster care alumni, foster/adoptive parents) or experience working with youth who have faced trauma is a plus.
