Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York’s premier human services providers, is a 126-year-old settlement house that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services--social, educational, legal, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness-- which significantly improve the lives of 15,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. The Caregiver Program Director helps execute and implement our vision of delivering comprehensive support and respite services to caregivers for older adults, adults with Dementia or a related disorder or disability, and older adult caregivers for children throughout Manhattan’s Community Districts 8 through 12. Our Caregiver Program serves working and non-working caregivers, geographically, culturally, and linguistically isolated caregivers, and caregivers who do not identify as such in an effort to support often un-seen members of our community.


Responsibilities will include:

• Supervising Caregiver Program staff including Social Workers, a Care Coordinator, MSW students and volunteers.

• Overseeing and facilitating program operations, ensuring collaboration with community and government partners.

• Conducting intake and assessments, exploring concerns, and answering questions to determine caregiver preferences for types of services and assistance; following up with caregivers as needed to ensure needs are met.

• Providing individualized information, direct assistance and supportive counseling to caregivers

• Conducting caregiver support groups, training and community events.

• Overseeing comprehensive outreach plan.

• Reviewing case files and providing quality assurance to ensure compliance with the highest standard of care, including from subcontractors.


Qualifications:

The successful applicant must possess excellent interpersonal skills and strong computer skills, as well as experience in the field of human services, particularly related to older adults and caregivers. This person is a skilled manager with the ability to develop and oversee a cadre of professional staff, has at least three years of clinical and/or social service experience; and has experience in program operations and/or administration. S/he must have great communication and listening skills, be a team player, and possess the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders. S/he shows empathy and sensitivity to wide range of caregivers’ diverse backgrounds and needs. S/he has expertise in accessing appropriate resources in the community; an understanding of the health care system and knowledge of government benefits available to older adults. Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus. LMSW or LCSW required, SIFI certification preferred.
