PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

SEO Scholars is a free, eight-year program that gets talented, low-income, public high school students to and through college with an out-of-school academic curriculum, college guidance, and the leadership development necessary to gain admission to, and succeed in, selective colleges and universities.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Program Assistant will support the coordination of Summer Academy, a 5-week intensive program designed to accelerate students’ academic progress over the summer vacation. Program Assistant duties include, but are not limited to, printing and organizing materials for programming, assisting in program-related projects, collecting and reporting data, and general office support. This position is managed by the Program Manager.


We are looking for a strong communicator and team member who is interested in working for an education non-profit organization, and who aligns with our mission of bridging the opportunity gap for San Francisco’s youth. This role offers the opportunity to apply administrative and organizational skills, play an important role in student success in the program, and grow in a supportive and mission-driven work environment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Support:

·        Help prepare and organize materials for summer programming

·        Work closely with program staff to identify and address program needs

·        Support students inside and outside of class as needed

Data Entry and Management:

·        Enter and maintain student academic data, demographics, and records 

·        Collect, analyze, and track program data in Excel

·        Integrate and coordinate the work of others as necessary

 

Specific Job Skills

  • Skilled in Excel, comfortable with numbers and raw data and skillful in transforming them into meaningful finished products 
  • Comfortable working independently and integrating feedback
  • Comfortable working with high school students, including upholding the high expectations set for students
  • Must be able to work effectively with others and have good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and handle changing priorities
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, and external partners


Educational Experience

  • College student, graduate, or current graduate student


Location: Downtown San Francisco, BART/Muni accessible

 

This is a temporary position. Dates of Employment – June 18, 2018- July 20, 2018 (excluding July 4-6), Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-1:30 pm each day with potential for more hours, $15/hour
