Climate Power seeks a research associate or senior research associate to join a team of researchers shaping the way that the political world talks about climate change. 

Climate Power is an independent strategic communications and paid media operation focused on building the political will and public support for bold climate action. Founded by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, and Sierra Club, Climate Power integrates hard-hitting research, polling, state and national earned media, digital and paid media to influence the national conversation, embolden leaders to take immediate, bold climate action, and expose climate deniers and their oil and gas lobby allies.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate daily updates on ongoing climate change disasters such as major hurricanes & wildfires when they are happening. 
  • Monitor for and highlighting new scientific reports and economic studies on the impacts of climate change or climate-related public policy.
  • Update reference guides with new information about a designated portfolio of issues on a rolling basis.
  • Respond to research questions from other Climate Power departments such as Communications and Digital to inform outgoing content.
  • Contribute to long term research projects and producing analyses, reports and other written products as directed by the Research Director/Deputy Research Director.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years professional experience, previous experience working for a non-profit advocacy campaign or electoral campaign is a plus. 
  • Strong research skills; thorough and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment and able to multitask and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of work.
  • Understanding of environmental issues and their potential political saliency helpful, but not required.
  • Proficient in utilizing LexisNexis and other data sources, experience searching FEC reports and other sources of public records preferred.

This full time exempt position reports to Climate Power’s Deputy Managing Director for Research.

Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The salary range for this position starts at $56,000. We offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off.
