JOB DESCRIPTION


The Director of Finance is responsible to the Executive Director and Board of Directors for management of the business office which provides administrative and fiscal support for legal and other work. The position is responsible for providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all the activities that will assist management and the Board of Directors in making educated economic decisions about DRM’s future.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Chief responsibilities are financial accounting, grants management, budgeting and financial reporting, to include:


·        Accurate and timely conduct of financial management activities. Preparation and dissemination of monthly and annual financial statements, annual and periodic programmatic budgets and audits, financial reports to federal and nonfederal funding sources.

·        Ensure usefulness of financial and management reporting; advise DRM’s Board of Directors, Executive Director and Management Team on fiscal and administrative matters.

·        In collaboration with the Management Team, monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure targets are met; monitor grant program goals and monthly performance.

·        Grants management, cost allocations, grant related cash drawdowns and cash flow planning.

·        Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial procedures; ensure that financial recordkeeping and reporting is executed in conformity with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.

·        Cash, investment, and asset management.

·        Develop and utilize predictive models and financial analyses to inform the organization’s operations and business plans.

·        Coordinate all audit activities, prepare work papers and year-end reports, remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.



·        In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop, enhance, implement and enforce administrative and fiscal management policies and procedures to improve systems and operations.

·        Responsible for financial strategies and activities, including banking and vendor relationships;

·        Review and maintain health benefits, retirement plans, insurance policies and other investments for the agency and its employees.

·        Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions. Evaluate the support structure and plan for continual improvement of the business office.

·        Supervise, evaluate and develop DRM’s finance and HR staff.

·        All tasks as appropriately assigned or requested



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification is preferred

·        Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in all aspects of not-for-profit accounting management

·        Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, finance, budgeting and planning for a not-for-profit organization

·        Knowledge and experience in Human Resource management.

·        Supervisory experience and ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and create a team environment in conducting supervisory and management activities.

·        Grants management experience and ability to ensure compliance with fiscal reporting requirements –including Uniform Guidance.

·        Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.

·        Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.


OTHER HELPFUL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Quickbooks and Paylocity is a plus
