Family Program Director

Summary of Position:

East Side Heart & Home Family Center is seeking a full-time Family Program Director to continue developing and coordinating our support and enrichment programs for individuals and families in East St. Louis. Currently, the Family Center offers specific programs for youth, women, families, and seniors. This position will provide programmatic, logistical, and communication support for the Family Programs and will work closely with the Executive Director to further the agency’s mission: Creating connections and offering opportunities to effect change in East St. Louis.

A successful candidate will have previous experience working alongside low-income families, be culturally responsive, have a resilient and positive attitude, and have excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

Essential Responsibilities/Tasks:

• Plan and coordinate existing Family Programs to increase engagement and build community among participants
• Build relationships with existing and new program participants, Family Center staff, board members, volunteers, and donors
• In collaboration with other staff, answer the phone and the doors, receive and organize donations, and connect individuals and families with support services and programs
• Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings, quarterly board meetings, and informal lunch check-ins and conversations
• Strengthen existing and develop new community partnerships by attending events and meetings as a representative of the Family Center
• In collaboration with other staff and the fundraising committee, plan and execute fundraising events, including but not limited to dinners, trivia nights, golf tournaments, and online or mail-in campaigns
• Develop and publish a bi-annual newsletter updating donors and supporters about the Family Center’s work

 Minimum Qualifications: 

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
• 2+ years of development experience in a professional setting; Non-profit experience preferred 
• Experience working with diverse populations of varying ages, races, and socio-economic statuses 
• Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the Family Center and those it serves 
• Ability to multi-task and simultaneously manage a variety of projects and programs 
• Ability to work independently as a motivated self-starter
• Thrives in a small organization where work is often collaborative
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
