Founded in 1999, BUILD’s mission is to use entrepreneurship to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities and equip them for high school, college and career success. BUILD’s unique program offers students a four-year entrepreneurship experience designed to develop 21st Century Skills and motivate student engagement in school. Starting in 9th grade, BUILD students work with their peers and community mentors to develop business ideas, pitch to funders and launch real businesses. As students journey through high school and continue to grow their businesses, BUILD helps them explore college and career options, and assists students with the college application process. Entrepreneurship is the hook – college, career, and life success are the goals.


BUILD currently serves approximately 2,000 high school students annually at programs located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, New York City and Boston.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the College and Career Access Program Manager, you are a critical member of BUILD Bay Area’s team, supporting staff in achieving programmatic excellence and impact. The Program data and college and career access associate (PA) provides technical support to the BUILD Bay Area’s cadre of Salesforce users and is responsible for supporting the College and Career Access Program, student engagement, and operations. The PA will manage tracking and capturing all data needed, and take lead with the organization's data deadlines and ensuring that all needs are met. The PA will also support many facets of the College and Career Access Program primarily focusing on college access preparation including communication with BUILD students and families, providing operations support, assisting events logistics, distributing educational resources to bolster student professionalism and success and managing data collection and entry related to the students in our program. The PA will gain a deep understanding of program delivery, data management, and student engagement strategies in the non-profit profit spaces.


Program Operations and Data Management

  • Work closely with College and Career Access Program Manager to ensure seamless support of program implementation across schools and program years including event support, student and family communication and data entry
  • Coordinate and support logistics and technology for workshops and events
  • Outreach to students and families related to support, attendance, paperwork, events, etc.
  • Collect and enter program data with accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage collection of necessary student and school paperwork and ensure it is completed and on file for operational and legal compliance


System Administration

  • Manage BUILD’s custom database on the Salesforce.com platform for all Bay Area program users
  • Organize, maintain, and disseminate Bay Area reporting and dashboards for current and historical records in Salesforce and assist users in developing their own reports
  • Perform routine and basic system administration:
  • Create custom reports, dashboards, fields, and objects
  • Troubleshoot system configurations as needed
  • Process data uploads for staff users using Data Import Wizard or Data Loader tools


Analysis and Organizational Learning

  • Analyze data on a bi-weekly basis and reflect back to Bay Area program-area teams and development
  • Support Salesforce and Data Program Manager with setting up systems and processes to support accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of program data
  • Support with contributing to BUILD’s evolving model of assessment and student-performance management to enhance our program quality and retention


Data and Knowledge Management

  • Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for and manage system upgrades, stay informed on Salesforce trends, progress, staff user experiences, and best practices
  • Provide day-to-day user support, and assist staff in building strategy for their Salesforce work
  • Work with user groups to continually improve their skills and the effectiveness and efficiency of their processes in the system
  • Monitor input integrity and timeliness to ensure the data is “clean” and accurately depicts student participation and performance; make and implement agreed-upon recommendations for improvement


Staff Support

  • Implement structures and resources to enhance staff capacity to utilize Salesforce effectively
  • Lead outreach and data collection strategies for all Bay Area data needs in a timely manner

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience utilizing systems and processes to support data collection, analysis, and reporting for program and organizational learning
  • At least 1 year of data collection experience
  • Experience with or passion for education, youth development, and/or entrepreneurship preferred
