The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a US-based nonprofit that improves the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) through programs that build community and foster resilience. We believe that yoga, mindfulness, and community are essential to transforming the wellbeing of people impacted by TBI. That’s why we pioneered our Yoga, Retreat, and Mindset programs - offered across the United States and Canada - to empower our community with new tools, resources, and connections. We also conduct extensive outreach with clinical, advocacy, and community-based stakeholders to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for TBI. We are engaged in ongoing research to evaluate the impact of our programs and contribute evidence-based practices for making yoga more accessible to the TBI community.

Position Summary:

The Manager, Marketing & Creative is responsible for growing awareness about our mission and elevating the voices within the LoveYourBrain Community. Furthermore, creating, curating and highlighting stories that illuminate our purpose, diversity, vision, mission and values through memorable and engaging narratives that inspire action. In this role, you will both help build strategy and execute on the plan. The role is a dynamic position requiring a self-starter with a passion to build authentic relationships and share the powerful stories of our community.

Essential duties and responsibilities 

  • Create and curate marketing content (video/photo/written copy) that strengthens and expand LYB’s outreach efforts to further connect our community to programming and fundraising goals. Showcasing our brand’s humanness, diversity, relatability, and vision (connecting the dots between the problem and our solution.)
  • Oversee the creation of marketing and communications collateral to ensure that it is consistent with the organization's brand, including social media, website copy, quarterly programmatic and general newsletters/eblasts, and collateral for studio and corporate partners
  • Define key performance indicators for each communications channels
  • Support strategic communications campaigns that will help further organizational goals
  • Build content and creative to showcase value aligned brand partnerships that increase visibility
  • Manage the next phase of LoveYourBrain’s Community Stories initiative 
  • Find content and thought leadership collaborators who can speak directly from different experiences and perspectives (youth, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, educational and mental health leaders, health care professionals, etc.)
  • Reach out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on a national and global level
  • Build and maintain a directory of PR contacts to distribute programmatic, fundraising, and campaign press releases on a local, regional, and national scale.
  • Manage social media accounts. (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)

Qualifications and skills: 

  • 3+ years prior experience working in a marketing or communications role
  • Proven success designing and executing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns
  • Experience working with video and photo editing software. (Adobe Creative Suite, (specifically Premier Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop; Final Cut Pro, etc.)
  • Exceptional understanding of social media, to build relationships and deliver LYB’s unique tone of voice across multiple channels. 
  • Demonstrated experience creating and curating content in an equitable approach that prioritizes and integrates diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present content clear and concise to a range of different audiences (i.e. people with TBI, health care professionals, media, general public). Messaging is positive, warm, approachable, simple, helpful, lighthearted, and never preachy.
  • Experience directing freelancers (video, web, editors)
  • Highly-developed organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and to both take direction and work autonomously where appropriate. 
  • A commitment to being compassionate, open-minded, and self-aware 

Minimum Requirements 

  • 2+ years of account or project management experience preferred.
  • Must be able to think analytically, creatively and strategically
  • Must be a strong self-starter

Qualifications and skills strongly preferred: 

  • Experience with people affected by traumatic brain injury or other neurological conditions, including personal experiences 
  • Experience creating accessible content and knowledge of best practices for enhancing accessibility (e.g., closed captioning, image descriptors, accessible and inclusive language, etc.)
  • Yoga and/or mindfulness practice or teaching experience
  • Experience working with Squarespace and Classy
  • Experience working with Salesforce and Campaign Monitor a plus 

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel in the US and Canada (by air and car) once every 1-2 months (must have license, passport)
  • Drive a car (rarely)
  • Participate in full day photo/video shoots

Work Environment:

  • Ability to effectively work remotely 
  • Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to talk over the phone or video conferencing (multiple times a day)
  • Ability to work over weekends (occasionally)
