Background

Journalists in the U.S. in the past few years have faced an unprecedented number of attacks and efforts to undermine their credibility, often by those in government or other positions of power. This would be a collaborative, strategic, and public-facing role.

  • In collaboration with the DC Advocacy Manager, devise and support advocacy efforts and articulate them with CPJ's broad organizational goals.
  • In collaboration with the Emergencies team, monitor potentially dangerous situations and assist distressed journalists within the framework of CPJ's journalist assistance and safety work.
  • Work closely with CPJ’s global technology researcher and consulting tech editor to identify advocacy priorities with U.S. based tech firms.
