Development Senior Manager

The Development Department is responsible for building and stewarding relationships necessary to sustaining and growing the resource base of Baltimore Corps. As the organization scales citywide and beyond, the Development Department is tasked with designing and executing Baltimore Corps’ long-term resource development strategy. 


Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Senior Manager will lead Baltimore Corps’ day-to-day development activities, oversee donor engagement, and manage the organization’s grant compliance requirements. Top candidates for this position will bring hands-on Salesforce experience, knowledge of foundation and individual fundraising, and the drive to meet outlined development goals. The ideal candidate should be someone who is passionate about database management, grant logistics, and providing administrative support in a virtual environment.


The position will be part of a two-person team responsible for securing an annual budget of $4M that supports six (6) programs owned and operated by Baltimore Corps. The Development Senior Manager activities will include writing proposals for restricted/unrestricted operating revenue and creating accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects; as well as maintaining grant compliance for Balitmore Corps’ current grant relationships. The Development Senior Manager will also be responsible for planning Baltimore Corps’ annual donor engagement events; which, due to COVID19, will take place virtually for the first time in the organization's history.  


  • Create and manage a system to conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources. 
  • Develop and maintain a structure to capture prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants. 
  • Produce the process to gather the information necessary to maintain compliance with  corporate/foundation funders on current grant agreements; including creating a structure to monitor all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors. 
  • Lead proposal generation process including; coordinating with key staff to produce and submit compelling high-quality grant proposals that can obtain significant financial support 
  • Assist with the stewardship of current donors, including work with the Director of Development to provide regular written updates (newsletters etc) to corporate and foundation donors. 
  • Manage the calendar and appointments for the Director of Development with foundation officers and other prospects, arrange for virtual meetings with supporters (foundation officers, foundation trustees). 
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.


  • At least three (3) years experience working with a nonprofit and/or foundation within their development department; bonus if you have direct experience managing grant compliance 
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising with successful track record for securing significant multi-year commitments from institutional donors  
  • Superior knowledge of and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation and government donors, and an understanding of technical and financial requirements for large grants. 
  • Demonstrated writing, research, project management and organizational skills  
  • Experience crafting LOIs, concept papers, proposals, and stewardship materials with aptitude for creating budgets, designing logic models, and drafting compelling case statements  
  • Salesforce experience with ability to conduct data imports, queries and exports that produce detailed and accurate reports (comparable CRM experience may be considered for the right candidate)


  • Hands-on experience using one of the following programs: MailChimp, Trello, WealthEngine, Slack
  • ‪Working knowledge of budget development and financial analysis
  • Past experience with working with a board of directors
  • Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results 
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with staff remotely
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions, and synthesize information


The Development Senior Manager is a salaried position, ranging from $55,000 - $60,000, higher commensurate with qualifications and experience. Baltimore Corps will operate remotely for the remainder of the fiscal year; revisiting in-office policies July 2021.
