About FUSE Corps

FUSE Corps is a national nonprofit that enables local government to more effectively address the most pressing challenges facing urban communities. In pursuit of this mission, FUSE runs an executive-level fellowship program in civic innovation that is focused on accelerating cross-sector collaboration and community-based problem solving. FUSE partners with city leaders to identify key strategic challenges and then recruits entrepreneurial professionals from the private sector who spend a year working in local government to address those challenges. FUSE fellows are uniquely positioned to achieve transformative impact across issue areas such as education, health, social services, economic development, public safety, and the environment.

Since FUSE was founded in the San Francisco Bay area five years ago, this unique program has grown quickly in response to mounting demand from cities across the country. The current cohort includes 35 projects in local governments throughout California (San Francisco, Stockton, San José, Fremont, Long Beach, Los Angeles) and across the country (Denver, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.). The response from prospective fellows has been equally robust making the application process extremely competitive among private-sector executives seeking to serve in this prestigious program and have a different kind of impact in their communities. FUSE plans to continue to expand toward placing 100 fellows annually across 25 cities and widely communicating the impact of their work. This rapid growth is being generously supported by a coalition of foundations including the Omidyar Network, James Irvine Foundation and Kresge Foundation.

This position is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional to play an integral role in building and implementing a range of operational and recruiting systems that enable FUSE to identify and select a diverse pool of highly experienced professionals who will ultimately become FUSE fellows. Key to success in this position will be exceptional project administration skills and ideally experience in sourcing candidates. The role will report directly to the Director of Recruiting and will also work closely with the Recruiting Manager. Core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating all administrative aspects of the recruitment process including, but not limited to webinars, phone interviews, Skype interviews, and in-person interviews.
  • Implementing day-to-day marketing and social media strategies aimed at enhancing the candidate pipeline.
  • Implementing a fellowship opportunity posting system that enables FUSE to efficiently and effectively post, track, and analyze performance of postings across a wide array of platforms including social media sites, diversity sites, business alumni websites and traditional job board websites.
  • Collaborating with other members of the FUSE team to understand expectations for fellowship projects in order to identify creative vehicles for sourcing candidates.
  • Leveraging LinkedIn Recruiter and other sources to identify and cultivate potential candidates.
  • Developing a system for soliciting and tracking candidate referrals to the fellowship program from multiple sources.
  • Developing a system for maintaining ongoing relationships with candidates across recruiting cycles.
  • Assisting with event planning and execution, including fellow orientation, fellow retreats and virtual live sessions.
  • Helping ensure a quality experience throughout the recruitment process for both candidates and city partners.

  • Passion for FUSE’s mission and an interest in local government, recruiting, and/or talent acquisition.
  • Ideally one to two years of experience in the recruiting or marketing operations field.
  • Proactive, self-motivated problem solver with high emotional intelligence.
  • Superior organization and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to critically gather and analyze key data points to help inform decisions.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work within a small, cohesive team.
  • Ability to learn and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment including multitasking and prioritizing effectively while managing a range of concurrent projects.
  • Ability to follow up and follow through with all assigned tasks in order to meet aggressive deadlines.
