Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development, and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil societies. ACDI/VOCA has approximately 50 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of approximately $174 million.


ACDI/VOCA is seeking a D.C.-based Director of Catalyzing Investment as part of their Technical Learning & Application (TLA) division who will liaise with other departments and provide technical guidance to projects, initiatives, and new business activities that support access to financial services and impact-driven investment by our targeted development populations under the guidance of a Senior Director.


Responsibilities


Primary activities include but are not limited to: coordinate with other departments to increase technical skills of field and headquarters staff by collaborating on trainings; participate in project management units as a technical resource; deliver specific technical assistance as STTA to projects or Task Orders under guidance from Senior Director; integrate investment facilitation and investment provision into projects; with guidance organize, facilitate and/or participate in working groups with participants from TLA and Project Management; solicit feedback from other groups, including the field, and suggest effective ways to work together; respond to technical needs from practice areas, and project staff; provide in-field support in screening due diligence process, and portfolio management; and identify venues for external dissemination of ACDI/VOCA’s learning, and serve as principal contact with service providers and foster good working relationships that maximize service.


In addition, this position will be responsible for identifying and qualifying new business opportunities to achieve new business goals. This person will contribute to proposal efforts by providing extensive technical content. Under guidance, this position will complete proposal activities including: creating budgets, identifying personnel, collaborating with partner organizations, collecting field research, designing implementation schedules, establishing monitoring systems, integrating all available information, and contributing to the writing of technical approach sections. This position will also be responsible for developing materials for unsolicited funding opportunities in investment and access to finance, to include: pitch deck materials; financial models; budgets; and implementation plans. The Director will also be expected to regularly share updates on catalyzing investment in ACDI/VOCA’s projects with HQ staff and the Catalyzing Investment practice area.


Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Business, International Development, Agriculture, Finance, Economics or other related field. Minimum of six years’ experience, including overseas work, in international development or related field. French and/or Spanish language fluency strongly preferred. Experience with multi-media applications, Power Point and other Microsoft programs. Demonstrated excellence in oral, written and reading comprehension abilities. The ability and willingness to travel internationally may be required.
