Muflehun is looking for an ambitious data analyst with machine learning experience who wants to grow and develop her/his skills while contributing to finding innovative solutions for wicked social problems. The position can be full-time, part-time or contract.  

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with a team to identify, assess, and solve complex social problems 
  • Support all phases of product development, including problem framing, data preparation (collection and ETL), performing analyses and using a wide range of statistical, machine learning, and applied mathematical techniques to deliver insights to stakeholders 
  • Create quantitative models and identify patterns in data 
  • Create data visualization dashboards to present findings 
  • Build applications on a web-based platform 

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in data science/machine learning or a quantitative discipline and 3+ years industry experience (or a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years relevant industry experience) 
  • Proficiency with R, Python or SQL 
  • Experience with data visualization in Tableau, Power BI or R Shiny 
  • Conceptual understanding of machine learning concepts and commonly used algorithms 
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with teams and independently 
  • Self-motivated and able to manage daily priorities with minimal oversight and direction 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Master's Degree 
  • Machine Learning Experience- 3-7 years 
  • Data Science Experience- 3 -7 years 
  • Experience with ETL

Muflehun  

Muflehun is an independent US based resource center serving at the nexus of society, security and technology. Muflehun focuses on preventing and countering hate, extremism and violence; accelerating equity in society; facilitating stability in post-conflict environments; converting climate change challenges into opportunities.  

As a resource center, Muflehun is currently working on projects to prevent the rising threat of targeted violence and domestic terrorism by: 

  • Conducting research and analysis of current violent extremism challenges, identifying root problems and designing relevant solutions   
  • Applying learnings from research and analysis to pilot local programs       
  • Sharing lessons with partner organizations and providing support in their capacity building for adapting and delivering localized versions of the programs 
  • Regularly providing analyses and learning to policy makers for improved macro level decisions 

We serve as strategic advisors to DC insiders, federal and local government stakeholders as well as to policy makers outside USA. Our framework is utilized in many decision-making circles and our programs have been tested in several countries demonstrating their flexibility and adaptability to local needs.
