Programs and Partnerships Manager

Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to break cycles of poverty in public housing neighborhoods and other low-income communities in New York City. We advance our mission through five integrated programs: employment services, financial counseling, youth development services, community revitalization, and financial inclusion anchored by the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union.

The Programs and Partnerships Manager is a key member of the Development team, directly supporting the Senior Director of Programs and Development. The Programs and Partnerships Manager is responsible for building relationships with community leaders, private sector partners, public officers, and other stakeholders. The Programs and Partnerships Manager is also responsible for planning and implementing collaborative projects, integrating our programs and services, creating content for and supporting our communication channels, and managing risk and compliance. 

This is a fast-paced position ideal for an individual with drive, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, strong analytical and communications skills, good at collaborating and who has the ability to multitask within an environment of multiple deadlines. Also needed are a good sense of humor and a strong desire to create lasting, meaningful change in public housing neighborhoods.


Reporting to the Senior Director of Programs and Development, and working in collaboration with the Development team and Urban Upbound leadership, the Programs and Partnerships Manager is responsible for:

  • Building new relationships and growing existing ones with community leaders, private sector, public officers, CBOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing collaborative projects that will complement our current programming.
  • Ensuring the smooth integration of our programs so that services are delivery holistically.
  • Participating in strategic planning for the organization.
  • Developing tools to ensure our programs stay in compliance and managing risk.
  • Creating content to increase our visibility.  
  • Supporting Program Directors with strategic planning and connecting them to partners.
  • Supporting the Senior Director of Programs and Development and collaborating with the rest of the Development team. 
  • Representing Urban Upbound at convenings, conferences and various other events.
  • Keeping updated in best practices and technologies in the field of human and social services.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Director of Programs and Development or Urban Upbound leadership.



Qualifications


  • BS in Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, Organizational Change Leadership, or a related field is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in development or relationship building required. Experience on capital campaigns is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (G Suite) is required. 
  • Flexible, with the ability to work remotely and from our sites. Will need to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
  • Strong time management, organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and produce high quality work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with high integrity and respect.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with capacity to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Open to learning new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker is a plus. Other languages are welcomed.
  • Sense of humor and passion for social justice.
