Students Demand Action Coordinator

The Students Demand Action Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting Students Demand Action. This person provides direct administrative support for Students Demand Action. Including logistical support for the Students Demand Action staff and volunteer teams, streamlining onboarding of student volunteer leaders, assists in budget tracking, travel, and some event coordination, along with distributed support of Students Demand Action Groups and other duties as necessary. We’re looking for a flexible problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail and a head for systems to join us.

  • Developing systems and structures to operationalize the formation and expansion of Students Demand Action Groups across the country. 
  • Manage volunteer onboarding and access to resources for volunteer leaders. 
  • Development and organization of resources including, documents, manage shared drives, and help develop presentations. 
  • Provide notes and next steps for departmental meetings. Copy editing as needed
  • Scheduling, meeting coordination, and travel – Provide support for team-wide and organization-wide events and meetings. Plan regular travel for team members.
  • Accounting and contracts – manage vendor contracts, Students Demand Action program budget including tracking expenses and invoices and management of Student Group Budgets.

To be successful in this job, you must have:

  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to create efficient structures for a field program distributed across the country. 
  • Familiarity with communicating with High School and College Students to support their activism. 
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents
  • Emotional intelligence to develop strong relationships across multiple teams
  • A proactive, creative, and dogged approach to anticipating and solving problems
  • An ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced organization with multiple projects and priorities
  • An ability to learn new systems and processes quickly 
  • Experience addressing inclusion and equity from an admin perspective 
  • Ability to quickly learn and teach others administrative and logistics systems 
  • Budget orientation - detail oriented, "thrifty", proactive


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Some experience in working with a political or organizing field team in a staff position preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with google suite, Microsoft office and excel. 
  • Passion for and interest in the administrative work of supporting our grassroots team.
  • This position can be performed remotely, however candidates in the Washington D.C. and NYC area are highly encouraged to apply.
