The NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices.

We are currently recruiting a full-time Clinical Director for NYU McSilver’s Safe Mothers, Safe Children (SMSC) Program. The SMSC program supports mothers with trauma-related disorders who are raising young children and receiving child welfare preventive services to reduce the risk of repeat maltreatment and to improve positive parenting. The SMSC initiative was created as a result of a close collaborative effort by the NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and the NYU School of Medicine in an effort to improve the identification and treatment of trauma.

The Clinical Director, reporting directly to the Executive Director of the McSilver Institute and the project’s Principal Investigator, oversees day-to-day operations and supervision of the delivery of clinical services provided by the SMSC project. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

MANAGEMENT:

  • Provide management and oversight of clinical and project staff on day-to-day operations and delivery of clinical services 
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), preventive agency partners and other community stakeholders
  • Identify prospective new partners and negotiate collaboration agreements
  • Assist with overall project management and organization 
  • Assist in the preparation of research and foundation proposals and participate in maintaining relationships with funders
  • Develop and oversee the provision of technical assistance and training to preventive agency staff

SERVICE DELIVERY

  • Provide direct clinical services under the SMSC project when required
  • Provide ongoing supervision, evaluation, scheduling, promotion, and corrective action of clinical and project staff;
  • Supervise clinical assessments, coordinate intervention delivery with preventive agency staff, and support clinicians to maintain client engagement and treatment compliance; 
  • Support the research team in the SMSC project with data collection
  • Develop clinical materials (treatment manuals, client worksheets, training and other psycho-educational materials, etc.) that support the delivery of clinical services as needed;
  • Coordinate, facilitate and/or participate in case conferences, treatment meetings and clinical review meetings, as appropriate. Be familiar with all program emergency procedures.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Comply with current IRB regulatory requirements and procedures, including continuing education on ethics and conduct of research, reviewing project consent and assent forms in accordance to IRB standard guidelines and maintaining regulatory binder. In addition the clinical director will oversee all regulatory compliance procedures, establish procedures to assure compliance with all regulatory requirements and provide a detailed quarterly report to the PIs regarding regulatory compliance status and needs.
  • Assist with scientific papers and presentations.
