Energy Programs Referral Specialist

Community Action of Pioneer Valley Energy Programs include Fuel Assistance, Weatherization, and Heating System Repair and Replacement. These programs serve thousands of clients every year throughout Franklin and Hampshire Counties and the North Quabbin Region. The Referral Specialist is the first point of contact for clients seeking weatherization, energy audits, heating system repair and replacement, and home repairs. The primary responsibilities include answering the weatherization and repair phone lines, screening caller eligibility for various energy programs, scheduling appointments, and making connections to resources.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent listening skills and ability to demonstrate patience and a non-judgmental attitude when dealing with people experiencing crises. They will have sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic diversity and the needs of individuals with low incomes while understanding poverty and its impact on individuals and families. The Referral Specialist must be proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, database programs, calendars, and an ability to quickly learn new software. Knowledge of Franklin, Hampshire & N. Quabbin region agencies and resources, excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to process information quickly and accurately are necessary.

Minimum qualifications include: Associates Degree or equivalent professional experience, Five years' experience in Human Service or related field or applicable work experience working with diverse individuals and families that have low incomes. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience or additional directly related experience may be substituted for education. Pay Range: $17.13-$18.17/hr; 37.5 hrs/wk

Community Action is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive insurance premiums.

HEALTH INSURANCE: For those working 30 or more hours per week the agency pays 80% of the plan premium for our core plan. 

DENTAL INSURANCE: For those working 30 or more hours per week, Community Action pays 50% of the premium for dental insurance. Community Action offers two dental plans. 

SHORT-TERM & LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE: Short-term pays up to 60% of wages for up to 11 weeks, which includes a 2-week waiting period. Long-term pays up to 60% of wages. Payment is dependent on claim approval by Mutual of Omaha.

RETIREMENT PLAN: Employees meeting plan eligibility requirements may participate in Community Action’s Retirement plan.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: Employees may contribute pre-tax dollars to a Medical or Dependent Care FSA.

VISION INSURANCE FROM EYEMED: Employees may enroll in the vision plan offered by EyeMed. The cost of this plan is paid 100% by the employee and Community Action is pleased to offer this insurance at a group rate and on a pre-tax basis.

VACATION/PERSONAL TIME/PAID HOLIDAYS: Community Action offers generous time off in the form of accrued time and paid holidays. Vacation days, 3- personal days, and 1-floating holiday over a one-year period. Additionally, the agency recognizes 11.5 paid holidays.

OTHER PAID TIME OFF: Regular employees accrue sick leave equivalent to 12 days per year.
