ABOUT THE JOB

The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Associate Director, Nationwide Development Training in the Development Department of the ACLU's National office in New York, NY.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Nationwide Development Training and Business Intelligence, the Associate Director is responsible for co-creating and implementing a nationwide training, convening, and onboarding program in support of the ACLU's 100+ member national fundraising staff and the staff of over 53 affiliate offices. They will build a training program to bolster the ACLU's innovative and industry-leading nationwide fundraising model. The Associate Director will also oversee the documentation, management, sharing, and updating of resources for the entire nationwide development program, working in collaboration with consultants and colleagues nationwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advance the nationwide fundraising model through documentation, trainings, and convenings
  • Design and execute robust in-house trainings that support professional development and advance fundraising goals
  • Align key leaders and stakeholders on the implementation and training plans
  • Develop training programs that support nationwide staff in a database conversion and implementation
  • Determine new courses and delivery methods to most effectively promote the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate the system into day-to-day business practices
  • Plan and execute nationwide, regional, and focused development staff conferences, convenings, and webinars
  • Assist other ACLU staff in systems training development and implementation
  • Oversee the process to gather and document fundraising best practices at the ACLU
  • Build and monitor KPIs to assess impact of Nationwide Development Resources programs; evaluate efficacy of training programs, determine overall impact, and make recommendations for changes as needed
  • Collaborate with ACLU subject matter experts to address role specific training needs and develop comprehensive training
  • Assess current training opportunities to assure the prioritization of an equity, diversity and inclusion lens in all engagements
  • Hire and oversee vendors to assist with the development and implementation of programs, as needed, to deepen the impact of professional development and technical trainings
  • Keep current with trends, best practices, new technologies and emerging innovations in training, and design and implement solutions that continue to build impactful learning opportunities for ACLU staff
  • Oversee special projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience designing and delivering basic and complex trainings that meet the needs of numerous audience and program goals
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret existing rules and guidelines for implementing training
  • Ability to develop relationships that fulfill mutual interests and priorities
  • Commitment to the mission of the ACLU
  • Commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences regarding race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability and socio-economic circumstance
  • Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project-based experience in a non-profit fundraising environment
  • Experience with database or other software training
  • Experience managing events, budgets, and educational or capacity building programs
  • Experience applying sound judgement to fulfill goals and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills including ability to positively influence and persuade, and to use listening, diplomacy, and tact to build internal relationships
