A partnership of six nonprofit environmental public health organizations seeks a consultant to provide 10 to 20 hours per week of behind-the-scenes support for a national collaborative major donor development project. The Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN) will administer this contract for a term of up to one year, not to exceed $30,000.

This contractor will work closely with leaders and staff from six partner groups, along with a consulting senior fund development strategist and a HEFN program manager. The collective aim is to raise major gifts and steward donors in support of a national campaign to end the use of dangerous chemicals that threaten public health.

The work under this contract will include the following duties:

  • Help schedule meetings with prospects, providing logistical support
  • Ensure timely acknowledgements of meetings and gifts 
  • Collect, edit, produce, and distribute campaign updates from Partners
  • Manage follow-up and scheduling for freshly assigned contacts
  • Track planning and execution of stewardship plans for donors
  • Track planning and execution of cultivation plans for prospects
  • Maintain other back office support needed to advance the project
  • Track credit for fundraising success fairly and accurately
  • Ensure timely disbursement of revenues per agreed formula
  • Research and organize information on donor prospects, as needed
  • Develop scripts, email templates & other fundraising materials, as needed
  • Schedule and prepare agendas for needed meetings of Partners
  • Prepare and distribute action minutes after every meeting
  • Maintain project work plan and calendar on ongoing basis
  • Ensure clear assignments and mutual accountability for tasks

The qualifications we seek in this contractor are:

  • Prior experience working on nonprofit organizational fundraising
  • Strongly self-motivated, self-managing and well organized
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Outstanding team player
  • Very good editing and writing skills
  • Fully capable on office software, including contact relationship management
