Use your communication and organizational skills to help end educational inequality!

TNTP seeks a full-time Manager, Communications & Operations to support the School Turnaround and Transformation Team as they help school leadership teams improve student achievement. This position can be based from a home office in Atlanta, Georgia, or the surrounding areas. This position is grant funded through September 2022 and is available immediately.

Who We Are

A national nonprofit founded by teachers, TNTP believes our nation’s public schools can offer all children an excellent education. Today we’re a diverse team from a wide range of fields, united by a fierce commitment to helping school systems end educational inequality. We work at every level of the public education system to attract and train talented teachers and school leaders, ensure rigorous and engaging classrooms, and create environments that prioritize great teaching and accelerate student learning.

Staff on TNTP's Consulting division work alongside teachers, school leaders, districts and states to help them achieve their goals for students. In Atlanta, we’re partnering with Atlanta Public Schools and DeKalb County School District to support a group of turnaround schools to support the school transformation process through coaching and professional development of school leadership teams including but not limited to principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and lead teachers.

What You’ll Do

The Manager will lead the strategy and execution of program operations and services aligned with our goals and work closely with teammates to tell the story of our work across a variety of platforms. The Manager will work closely with the School Turnaround and Transformation team (Project Director- Academics, Project Director-Community Engagement, Senior Managers-Academics and Community Outreach, and Analyst) to ensure all school leadership teams and clients have an exceptional experience. Responsibilities include:

  •  Plan and coordinate logistics for a three-day Transformational Leadership Summit, community events, as well as monthly professional development sessions and meetings, including drafting schedules and agendas, sending participant pre-work, securing meeting space, making copies, securing materials, etc.
  • Writing copy for a variety of external platforms, including social media, email, and the program newsletter
  • Manage updates to all social media platforms and develop systems for internal knowledge-management for teams
  • Develop and coordinate program surveys, including school leadership team feedback surveys, and TNTP’s Instructional Culture Insight survey in participating schools gathering feedback on the program
  • Create program materials, including PowerPoint decks, handouts, and talking points for meetings and professional development
  • Build relationships with staff, external partners, and stakeholders across the education landscape to help surface and share positive stories about school turnaround programs
  • Provide additional project support, where needed

What You Bring

We are looking for amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and are highly motivated to change children’s lives through education. You’ll be right at home here if you learn from failure and overcome adversity, cultivate strong relationships, and push yourself, your work and the people around you to the next level (a sense of humor and passion for good food are welcome too).

We expect the Manager to:

  •   Embrace a fast-moving organization. Deadlines, changing priorities and new projects don’t overwhelm you. Instead, they inspire you to rise to the occasion
  • Plan and execute smooth operations. Your planning will be the backbone of an efficient and productive program. The team will look to you to establish systems, develop project plans, and support implementation.
  • Be an outstanding communicator. You love words. You are an expert writer and editor with a clear and compelling voice, a sensitive ear, and a knack for finding simplicity in complexity.
  • Be a strong strategic thinker. You are a natural problem-solver who can efficiently assess the big picture, analyze the root causes, and define new ways forward. You are intellectually curious and thrive on working with multidisciplinary teams, often across multiple projects at once.
  • Have a keen sensibility for telling a story with words and images. You seek opportunities for defining an authentic brand and understand how to use design strategically to amplify your message.
  • Invest and influence others. You bring out the best in your team and inspire your colleagues. You are confident with clients, listen actively, and advise effectively.
  • Have an unwavering belief that ALL children can learn. A passion for education is essential to being successful in this role.

Specific qualifications include:

  • Exceptional writing ability
  • A minimum of three years of experience writing and editing with regular deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to communicate well with stakeholders at all levels, and collaborate, attain and grow effective partnerships to meet common goals
  • Strong program or project management experience with extraordinary attention to detail and professionalism, and the ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly, proposing and implementing thoughtful solutions
  •  Experience managing social media, email marketing, or media relations for an organization or campaign strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to diversity and inclusion, organizational culture, or knowledge management preferred
  • A willingness to work non-standard hours and/or occasional weekends

Use your communication and organizational skills to help end educational inequality!
