ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Communications & Marketing Manager include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a positive work attitude by acting and communicating in a manner conducive to good interpersonal relations (e.g., helpful, courteous, pleasant) with students, mentors, donors, all public, co-workers and managers, in accordance with the spirit of SSP’s mission.

• Manage strategic proactive media outreach by identifying SSP brand awareness and thought leadership opportunities; take initiative to act upon these opportunities to achieve results.

• Manage relationships with media to create future opportunities.

• Oversee SSP’s email marketing campaigns for all departments and programs.

• Oversee digital and social media strategy, including the evolving digital market, and contribute new ideas to enhance the organization’s social media presence. Analyze, synthesize and course correct based on data and metrics.

• Identify trends and leverage opportunities in the industry via social and digital tools and channels.

• Lead assignments to support the strategic vision of SSP; develop recommendations of marketing activities to increase revenue and engagement.

• Manage projects and campaigns, including managing the communication’s team seasonal interns.

• Lead and provide strategic direction on new projects. Manage and prioritize staff time to fulfill cyclical and new projects as needed.

• Manage vendor and consultant relationships including metrics and reporting.

• Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including managing graphic design projects from inception to completion, and act as brand liaison to the organization to ensure consistent brand voice, vision, and aesthetic are achieved.

• Manage all internal department relationships and project needs for internal and external communications including oversight and management of the SSP website.

• Capture stories of students, alumni, schools, partners, mentors, and others in the community through different media.

• Manage oversight of the annual report.

• Prepare language/speeches for executive leadership for different opportunities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrate alignment with SSP’s mission, vision, and values.

• Exceptional written, oral, proofreading, branding, design oversight, interpersonal and presentation skills.

• Management, analysis and growth of social and digital advertising campaigns with

measured results.

• Strong organizational and project management skills that reflect ability to perform and

prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to build and maintain beneficial media relationships on the organization's behalf.

• Ability to take initiative and manage projects assigned with minimal

supervision.

• Ability to work effectively independently and as a highly resourceful team-player under

pressure and within deadlines.

• Creative and innovative thinker who actively presents new opportunities, proposes

solutions, and recommends best practices.

• Ability to anticipate challenges and effectively resolve conflict by identifying

opportunities.

• Ability to work creatively and with flexibility in a fast-paced environment while

maintaining high work standards.

• Ability to develop rapport and engender trust and maintain confidentiality.

• Exhibit a positive attitude and professional demeanor.

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) as well as creative design software.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.

• 5+ years of relevant work experience in communications and marketing.

• Understanding of website content management systems.

• Experience managing social media communities for brands.

• Print and online advertising experience.

• Experience managing staff and vendor relationships.

• Experience executing email and social media outreach to targeted audience segments.

Benefits

Medical Insurance

• Eligible employees may enroll for medical coverage. Coverage goes into effect on the 1st day of the month following 30 days of eligible service. You may elect coverage at this time or during open enrollment which occurs in late November for the new calendar year.

• SSP pays approximately 75% of the total medical coverage.

Dental Coverage

• Eligible employees may enroll for dental coverage. Coverage goes into effect on the 1st day of the month following 30 days of eligible service. You may elect coverage at this time or during open enrollment which occurs in late November for the new calendar year.

• SSP pays 90% of the premium.

Vision Care

• Eligible employees may enroll for vision coverage. Coverage goes into effect on the 1st day of the month following 30 days of eligible service. You may elect coverage at this time or during open enrollment which occurs in late November for the new calendar year.

• Employees pay 100% of the coverage cost.

Life Insurance

• SSP pays the full cost of term life insurance valued at 1x the employee’s annual salary at the beginning of the calendar year.

Retirement -401K Plan

• Employees are eligible to participate after one year of full-time service.

• SSP matches employee contributions up to 6% of salary.

• SSP offers Safe Harbor vesting of employer share.

• Employees can contribute up to the IRS maximum. $19,500 is 2021 pre-tax maximum. Additional contributions are allowable for employees 50 and older.

Short Term Disability

• SSP offers two short term disability plans which are administered through 3rd party administrators. Eligible employees will receive approximately 60% of their salary up to a maximum of $10,000 after 8 business days of medical leave.

• SSP pays 100% of the premiums for this plan.

Long Term Disability

• SSP offers Long term disability coverage for eligible employees through the Hartford.
