    Description

    Mission: The Philadelphia Children's Alliance (PCA) is an independent non-profit organization that promotes healing and justice for sexually abused children in Philadelphia. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with our partners in child protection, law enforcement, and medical and mental health services to provide forensic interviews, victim support and counseling services at the Philadelphia Safety Collaborative, a co-located child-friendly facility. We are committed to using best practices and we promote this model locally and nationally.

    Position Summary: Reporting to the Finance Director, this position is responsible for day-to-day finance operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain general ledger; record accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries.
    • Perform payroll processing and allocation of personnel/benefits across funding sources, facilitate new hire payroll orientation, and field payroll questions from staff.
    • Retirement plan oversight and reporting.
    • Create monthly and quarterly invoicing for reimbursements from Department of Human Services, PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency, and Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
    • Assist with financial management of $1.25 million federal grant.
    • Reconcile QuickBooks monthly with Development donor database.
    • Assist with budgeting & forecasting.
    • Assist with annual third-party financial audit.
    • Prepare reports for multiple foundation grants and other ad-hoc reporting as needed.
    • Assist with creation, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls and other financial policies.
    • Work on special events as needed.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    Education and Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
    • Four or more years’ experience in accounting or related business area, preferably in a nonprofit.
    • Experience in audit preparation, preferably for a nonprofit.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Excel required.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while remaining flexible when presented with changing priorities.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, including with non-financial staff and external parties.
    • Willingness to be challenged with new activities.
    • Maturity, discretion, and professionalism while working independently and in a collaborative environment.
