The Victim Rights Law Center’s Massachusetts office is hiring a remote, part-time People and Culture Manager/Human Resources Manager!

As sexual violence is at the forefront of the national dialogue, more survivors are coming forward with their safety, privacy, education, housing, employment, financial stability, and immigration needs. We need a smart, compassionate human resources generalist who prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion to join our team. 


The Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) is a nonprofit law center that provides free legal representation to survivors of rape and sexual assault throughout Massachusetts and in Oregon, and national training and support for lawyers and advocates on the civil legal needs of rape and sexual assault victims. The VRLC’s mission is to provide legal representation to survivors of rape and sexual assault to help rebuild their lives; and to promote a national movement committed to seeking justice for every rape and sexual assault victim. All applicants must agree with the VRLC’s mission and philosophy regarding our commitment to improving the response to sexual violence, empowerment, and inclusiveness. This position will be filled by a People and Culture Manager/Human Resources Manager with a passion for mission-driven work. The VRLC deeply values diverse voices and perspectives on our team. Responsibilities:

  •  Report to the Finance Director and assist with all human resources related tasks, including benefits administration and communication, reporting activities, onboarding and offboarding employees, and ensuring employees understand all that our human resources programs and policies have to offer;
  • Collaborate with the VRLC’s Committee on Racial Equity and other staff to ensure anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion are prioritized throughout the hiring process;
  • Coordinate with our finance team to ensure human resources and finance work together seamlessly;
  • Provide employee relations support to all staff and help guide supervisors/leadership to ensure high levels of team performance;
  • Partner with Executive Director and designees to ensure the implementation of best practices with federal and state employment law; and
  • Review and update the employee manual and related policies with input and approval from the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven HR experience, including excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Commitment to prioritize anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • Initiative, curiosity, and the drive to create positive change;
  • Positive, welcoming, efficient and creative approach to problem solving;
  • Passion for the VRLC mission;
  • Strong attention to detail, an ability to multitask, and a desire to add value wherever you can;
  • Strong administrative skills (including Microsoft Office) and comfort using video technology; and
  • Willingness to communicate via video conference.

Salary Range: $35,000-$40,000as a 20/hour week part-time position.
