Beyond Pesticides is seeking a creative, self-motivated individual to serve as a Marketing & Public Education Mgr. This position is responsible for the development, growth and operational management of Beyond Pesticides’ member and donor database, as well as future enhancement of the database, member and donor records, and data requirements. Ensures system inputs that record and track data utilized in marketing strategies and campaign effectiveness. Leads development and execution of online campaign strategies, including web site properties, HTML emails, online marketing, and other initiatives. Will use transactional, behavioral, and demographic data to optimize campaign effectiveness and provide actionable member insights. Serves as frontline communication with public. Focuses on empowering local action in advancing a precautionary and preventive approach to solving environmental and public health problems associated with pesticide use. This person should have an interest in learning about the world of toxics, a commitment to social justice, and a desire to create positive change by providing the public with information on the organization and the environmental and health issues associated with pesticide exposure, and organic management strategies for land and buildings.

Beyond Pesticides, founded in 1981, is a national non-profit research and action organization at the forefront of the grassroots environmental health movement with a focus on the eliminating the use of pesticides that are hazardous to human health, wildlife, and our environment. * Develops and implement of database and website marketing initiatives that serve to attract new members and donors well as retain existing ones.

* Develops strategies for targeted member marketing campaigns and educational public outreach.

* Oversees database marketing projects to ensure accuracy and integrity of all data, member lists and /member records. Evaluates and inputs all marketing member list requests.

* Works collaboratively with internal departments to identify marketing opportunities to reach potential members/donors. Evaluates the effectiveness of marketing efforts and makes recommendations.

* Develop procedures around member transactional behavior, and demographic data to optimize overall marketing campaign effectiveness; track customer trends.

* Plans and oversees membership renewal/retention for billed members efforts, including design, timing and frequency of renewal notices and telephone and personal contact activities, etc. Implements dues audit program to ensure integrity of dues structure

* Develops, manages, and executes website and online communications strategy and initiatives

* Manages website content on a day-to-day basis, updating and publishing information in a timely fashion to multiple websites as needed. Work with internal staff and third party vendors to design, produce, edit, publish, and maintain web content.

* Educates the public by providing information on pesticide toxicity and ecological effects, organic management of land and buildings, the organization’s current projects, including pollinator protection and organic integrity, and ways to take action. This includes organizing and creating effective information packets of information with cover letters and answering requests for assistance that comes into the organization through mail, email, blog comments, and Facebook.

* Coordinates the Center for Community Pesticide and Alternatives Information. This includes managing new and existing research materials on pesticides and alternatives, organizing action alerts, mass mailings and information dissemination, fielding information requests from the public, and processing the incoming mail and email.

* Assists the executive director and program staff with various administrative office tasks on a continuing and as-needed basis.


Qualifications: Applicants must: possess an undergraduate degree with relevant course work and previous work experience preferred; digital and data marketing skills; demonstrate people skills and organizational abilities; and have excellent writing, administrative, and communication skills, online communication experience, willingness to take initiative, interest in research, and a passion for environmental/public health issues is required. Must be able to work two weekends per year for Beyond Pesticides’ annual national conference and board meetings. Training will be provided.
