WHO WE ARE:

The Hepatitis Education Project (HEP) is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency committed to improving health of underserved communities disproportionately impacted by viral hepatitis and envisions a world where everyone has access to affordable, high-quality care to support all their health needs. Driven by the values and principles of social justice and harm reduction, our programs include Prevention and Outreach, Medical Case Management, Correctional Health, and Policy and Advocacy. Through these programs, HEP serves people at risk for or living with viral hepatitis, with a focus on disproportionately impacted communities including people experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability; people who are uninsured/underinsured; people who use drugs; incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals; and immigrant and refugee communities. HEP aims to improve the health of marginalized communities by providing low-barrier services that reduce the negative consequences associated with drug use, homelessness, incarceration, and infectious diseases.


JOB DESCRIPTION:                                                

As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Operations will report to the Executive Director (ED) and will maintain positive community partnerships and ensure smooth functioning of the agency. The Director of Operations will further develop and streamline HEP’s operations infrastructure. They will work with the Executive Team in activities related to improving HEP’s organizational health and enhancing HEP’s strategic vision and commitment to health equity. The Director of Operations will work closely with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to ensure HEP’s mission and values are reflected in the plan for long-term sustainability and viability of the organization.


Responsibilities include:

·        Provide oversight of diverse grants portfolio and multiple revenue streams to support program integration and growth based on needs identified by program staff

·        Responsible for financial health of organization, providing transparent fiduciary oversight

·        Manage and cultivate existing relationships with funders to secure and expand recurring revenue streams; grant writing; grant and contract management

·        Generate a detailed annual operating budget and regularly provide financial forecasting

·        Work with the Executive Team and Board on strategic plan development and implementation processes; develop and implement system for tracking and reporting progress of strategic plan implementation

·        Support the development of long- and short-term financial priorities to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the programs and the communities HEP serves

·        Provide leadership oversight and administrative direction for Finance, Payroll, Information Technology, and Facilities Maintenance

·        Provide direct supervision for Administrative Services Manager, including oversight of administrative functions of organization, including IT, vendor contracts, employee benefits package, 401K, and payroll

·        Update policies, procedures, and manuals, as needed

·        Develop and execute HEP’s financial management strategy and have direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, contract negotiations, banking relationships, partnerships compliance and private and institutional financing

·        Oversee the accounting function which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger preparation, financial statement preparations and other accounting activities

·        Direct procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to ensure adequate accounting internal controls and services that maximize operational efficiency and general business operations

Responsibilities may also include:

·        Work on health policy and advocacy at the local, state and federal level, including Medicaid transformation efforts;

·        Work with Executive Team to strengthen communication strategy, including media outreach

·        Work with Executive Team on Board development and engagement

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Requirements: 

·        Strong commitment to harm reduction, health equity, and social justice

·        Education, work experience, or lived experience that demonstrates understanding of homelessness or unstable housing, substance use, incarceration, and/or immigrant and refugee communities

·        Six or more years of demonstrated experience implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs for public health and/or community-based organizations

·        Exceptional written communication skills, including strategic marketing materials and social media 

·        Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and short deadlines

·        Experience securing and managing large grants/contracts from government, corporate, and foundation funders, including multi-year commitments

·        Sense of humor


Desired Qualifications: 

·        Master’s degree in public health, public administration, social services or other related field, or equivalent experience;

·        Knowledge of hepatitis trends, harm reduction, and experience working with people affected by viral hepatitis;

·        Close familiarity with health care reform and Medicaid transformation

·        Foreign language proficiency in one or more of King County's most common languages a plus
