AIA Seattle is seeking a Communications Coordinator to promote our vast array of programs and events to our membership. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail oriented and able to efficiently juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Goals of Position

·        Supporting the Communications Manager to successfully promote AIA Seattle and Design in Public events

·        Manage our social media platforms, websites, and email communications

·        Welcome Center for Architecture & Design visitors, and provide them with information about the Center’s resident organizations and current exhibit

·        Host occasional after-hours events at the Center for Architecture & Design (when we have fully returned to in-office work in accordance with covid-19 protocols)

 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

Marketing Coordination and Execution

·        Implement AIA Seattle’s and Design in Public’s marketing plan to attract attention and attendance to programs and the Seattle Design Festival

·        Execute AIA Seattle and Design in Public digital communications and engage followers on social media platforms

·        Manage ongoing marketing and communication efforts: create content calendars, draft monthly communications reports to the board, place program and event listings, etc.

·        Ensure that AIA Seattle, Design in Public, and the Center’s websites contain current, compelling and well-presented information to our members and the public

·        Assist in maintaining a consistent look and feel by establishing and enforcing branding style standards

·        Coordinate an eventual new website development and migration

 

Seattle Design Festival Coordination

·        Collaborate with Festival Committee on planning and execution of Seattle Design Festival

·        Communicate with Festival Committee and Program Partners about Festival calendaring and written/visual copy

·        Maintain volunteer management tool to track volunteer contacts, hours, and manage scheduling

·        Download, archive, and organize photography from Flickr account

·        Assist in the creation and collecting of evaluations/survey feedback for Seattle Design Festival programs, participants, and volunteers

·        Work with Program Coordinator to plan and execute a recruitment program for Festival volunteers, including volunteer orientation events, materials, and training

Front Desk Receptionist Support (when we have fully returned to in-office work in accordance with covid-19 protocols)

·        Answer phone, help maintain information kiosk and public areas

·        Host for occasional after hours events

 

 

Job Skills

·        Highly organized and detail oriented

·        Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

·        Personable and team-oriented, but comfortable working solo

·        Positive attitude and flexible approach

·        Project management skills

·        Interest in AIA Seattle and Design in Public’s missions, the built environment and design

 

 

Job Qualifications

·        work experience in digital media, marketing, communications or related field

·        Minimum 2 years of experience in an office or non-profit environment

·        Proficiency with Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, or similar email marketing software

·        Graphic design experience preferred, including experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 

·        WordPress development skills, working knowledge of HTML, CSS and/or PHP

·        Ability to quickly problem-solve and shift thinking to accommodate diverse task list

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

AIA Seattle is committed to progressive and equitable compensation standards, including full-time employment as the primary basis of our workforce, and pay scale equity. The starting salary for this position is $48,900. We recently completed our JUST certification, and commission a bi-annual compensation study to benchmark against other area non-profits. We provide generous benefits, including fully paid health and disability insurance, 401k match of 4%, bonuses, professional development opportunities, and generous public holidays including the week between Christmas and New Year off. We respect work-life balance, and allow flexible work schedules and work from home as appropriate to the position. Most of us work from home on Mondays, when our office is closed to the public.
