Background

Established in 2004 by several leading foundations, the New York City Charter School Center (Charter Center) has worked for more than 15 years to build and empower a successful charter school movement in NYC.  Working alongside charter schools and other stakeholders, the Charter Center not only provides programs and services to aid every stage of a school’s development, but our team also advocates for community and legislative support in order to solidify the movement’s continued growth and success.

Now comprised of 260 charter schools educating over 11% of all public-school students in New York City (and growing), NYC’s charter sector is considered one of the most successful efforts to grow a diverse array of high quality, public charter schools. The Charter Center, itself, is recognized as a premier advocacy and support organization, a model that has been replicated in many places across the United States. While the Charter Center advocates for specific city and state policies and outcomes, it has never been satisfied merely with what is; we also look to engage stakeholders in an ongoing dialogue to build upon existing structures and help bring about an ever-improving sector. We do this in service to our vision of a future in which all of New York’s students have access to an equitable, high quality public education.

Opportunity

The Charter Center is looking for an experienced professional to oversee our finance function and support planning and budgeting. As a lead, with part-time support, you will step into a small (20 employees), well-respected and financially healthy nonprofit organization.
