Position Summary


The Loyal Donor Officer is a member of the Loyal Giving Program Team and is responsible for the ongoing cultivation, bequest solicitation and essential stewardship of California’s 33,000+ identified, non-managed loyal donors. S/he conducts exploratory meetings with donors for the purposes of recognizing their loyalty to The Nature Conservancy, identifying giving potential and asking for bequest commitments. S/he keeps a portfolio of gift planning bequest prospects for future solicitation. The Philanthropy Officer creates ongoing opportunities for contact with current loyal donors to develop meaningful relationships through group activities such as meetings, luncheons, and field trips. S/he will have a goal of 30 new bequest intentions per year and $600,000 in bequest substantiations. This position can be located in San Diego or Los Angeles office.


Desired Skills & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination. 
  • Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Experience generating reports, and organizing, analyzing and interpreting the data.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience working across departments.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.
