Description

As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services management team, the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH) volunteer recruitment coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and organizing national volunteer outreach and recruitment efforts for the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline. The volunteer recruitment coordinator will also oversee onboarding and training efforts for the NSAH volunteer and intern classes.


  • Coordinate the supplemental staff recruitment program including, but limited to:
  • Volunteers:
  • Work with the NSAH volunteer program manager to develop and oversee ongoing recruitment processes for volunteer classes (minimum of six per year)
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding efforts for new volunteers year-round
  • Track, review and follow up with potential volunteers throughout the application and training process as needed
  • Coordinate training schedule for online onboarding training sessions and
  • Track volunteer hourly commitments as needed
  • Interns:
  • Coordinate recruitment and hiring processes year-round for all intern training
  • Support in screening applicants and supporting candidates through hiring process
  • Track online training process as needed
  • Coordinate training schedule for online training sessions
  • Support in the development of schedule for administrative and OHL work to coincide with peak hours on the OHL and intern's availability.
  • Co-facilitate at least six trainings per year (DC, and outside the DC/Maryland/Virginia area).
  • Collaborate with NSAH volunteer program manager and NSAH program manager to ensure recruitment efforts are strategically timed
  • Identify partnerships in training cities across the United States to maximize the number of applicants
  • Travel to recruit volunteers nationwide
  • Work with the Human Resources department to recruit at external events, such as volunteer or intern fairs
  • Coordinate with the communications, technology, and human resources departments to advance recruitment efforts
  • Support all NSAH hotline staff and help create a positive and productive working environment
  • Maintain knowledge of RAINN's policies and protocols
  • Coordinate supplemental volunteer appreciation, information events, and activities as needed
  • Attend staff meetings, including: weekly meetings with direct supervisor, bi-weekly Victim Services meetings, monthly all staff meetings, and monthly NSAH Management meetings

Required Qualifications:


  • Must have 1+ years experience working or volunteering with crisis intervention services
  • Experience training or organizing small and large groups of adults.
  • Possess a drive to be a spokesperson for RAINN's efforts in order to exponentially build out an online volunteer workforce.
  • Possess a drive to proactively and effectively communicate creatively with potential volunteers to ensure their completion of our volunteer onboarding process.
  • Must be comfortable presenting in front of large audiences
  • Must be familiar with instant messaging;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure during stressful situations; ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities;
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a wide range of situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions – written and oral.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions.
  • Must possess a positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently;
  • Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, which will include occasional evenings and/or weekends/holidays;
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence;
  • Ability to travel for trainings approximately 4 times per year;
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check (administered by RAINN);
  • Bachelor's degree required;


Desired Qualifications


  • 1+ years experience managing paid or unpaid staff (managing employees who work in shifts is preferred).
  • 2+ years experience in the field of social services;
  • Experience working with staff who have varying levels of professional experience;
  • Experience with relationship building and fostering collaboration among diverse workforce.

  • Must be able to travel via air and train 10% of the time
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time;
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc;
  • Must be able to operate a computer (typing 35-­45 wpm with accuracy) and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier and fax machine);
  • Must have vision correctable to a level where individual can operate a computer; visualize text on a computer monitor.
