Born Free USA seeks a Development Assistant. This is a junior-level position that supports the department and has responsibility for gift entry, database management, and donor stewardship and engages directly with supporters and the public.
The Development Assistant's primary duties include processing incoming donations (opening mail, data entry); issuing donor acknowledgements; responding to inquiries via phone and email; and general administrative support as well as helping coordinate fundraising events and representing the organization in the community.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, and experience using a donor database or CRM system is a preferred. The person in this position must be able to work quickly, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines – all while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. They must have excellent written and oral communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a can-do team spirit. The successful candidate will also have a commitment to the mission of Born Free USA. Knowledge of animal welfare issues is a plus.
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, position in our Silver Spring, Maryland office. Occasional weekends or evenings may be required.
