Job Description: Youth Program Manager

school and high school students? Then you’ll be interested in The Community Fund of Darien’s Youth Program Manager position.

The Community Fund of Darien runs four programs for youth (listed and described below) with the purpose of teaching philanthropy, learning through volunteerism, building developmental assets, and engaging youth in meaningful conversations about mental health and substance abuse.

The Youth Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of all Youth Programs within TCF. Our goal is to provide a safe place for children to participate in a program that is interactive and developmentally appropriate. The Youth Program Manager enjoys working with students, is self-motivated, creative, organized, adaptable, and has an interest in community service, substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion work.

We rely on our Youth Program Manager’s dedication, enthusiasm and creativity to lead and inspire our youth to become healthy, caring, responsible and generous citizens. TCF’s Youth Programs provide an informative, fun, upbeat and motivating atmosphere where kids get involved in their community. 

What do we expect of our Youth Program Manager?      

Bachelor’s degree preferred      

Demonstrated ability to work with middle and high school students, including experience supervising groups of students (teacher, camp counselor, etc.)       

Excellent interpersonal skills; provide an outstanding experience by exhibiting exceptional service to youth and parents       

Provide the highest level of organization and communication to ensure TCF’s youth programs operate successfully       

Excellent written and verbal communication skills       

Impeccable time management and organizational skills       

Continually look for opportunities to improve the programs  

Serve as a role model for students in all areas, including integrity, collaboration and a can-do

attitude

Job Description   

Meet monthly and communicate regularly with the Youth Asset Team leadership team and a licensed clinical social worker to plan meeting agendas, projects and special events.     

Prepare materials for and attend bi-weekly Youth Asset Team meetings.      

Prepare materials for and attend bi-monthly Freshmen Community Group meetings.      

Prepare agenda, materials, coordinate speakers and attend monthly Youth Community Fund meetings. Oversee various Youth Community Fund service projects at local nonprofits and help

students with their fundraisers.      

Coordinate and facilitate bi-weekly Youth Give Back sessions including transportation to and from

off-site service projects.      

Coordinate service project logistics for Youth Community Fund, Freshmen Community Group and Youth Give Back projects with local nonprofits. Work with YAT Event Coordinator to

coordinate service project logistics for Youth Asset Team.      

Recruit, train and manage high school volunteers and parent leaders for Youth Give Back student group.      

Manage weekly communication to Youth Asset Team, Youth Community Fund, Freshmen Community Group and Youth Give Back members and their parents including meeting reminders, event recaps and logistical information for off-site visits.      

Respond to all student and parent inquiries about group meetings, special events and registration for the following school year.      

Attend weekly staff meetings, meet with Executive Director once/week.      

Attend occasional TCF special events throughout the year.      

Embrace the mission statement and serve as an ambassador of The Community Fund of Darien.      

Assisting The Community Fund’s marketing and communications efforts including taking photos at meetings, collecting quotes from students and sharing fundraising materials with parents.      

Create and maintain meaningful relationships with local non-profit volunteer coordinators.      

Act as the point person for various TCF volunteers and interns.     

Coordinate student applications for youth groups, create rosters and update information on youth groups for TCF’s website.

15-25 hrs/week work schedule. Afternoon and evening hours are required.

Youth Asset Team (YAT): Group of forty 10-12th grade students (including 4/5 leadership students) focused on mental health promotion and substance abuse prevention. This group will be assisted by one LCSW Advisor.       

Youth Give Back (YGB): Two semesters of twenty 7-8th grade students participating in team building and community service projects. This group will be assisted by one Teacher Advisor, two Adult Advisors, and YAT student leaders (4/5) as needed.       

Freshmen Community Group: Group of thirty freshmen focused on the transition to high school. First meeting of the month will be YAT focused; second meeting of the month will be YCF focused. This group will be assisted by one Adult Advisor, one LCSW Advisor, TCF Grant Director and four

student leaders (2 YAT liaisons and 2 YCF liaisons) .     

Youth Community Fund: Group of fifty 10-12th grade students learning about philanthropy, grant making and participating in community service projects at local nonprofits. The Youth Program Manager will work with the TCF Grant Director/YCF liaison to coordinate.
