The NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices.

 

We are looking to hire a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Full-Time Bilingual Clinician for the Safe Mothers, Safe Children (SMSC) Project. This project, an exciting collaboration between ACS and NYU, aims to improve the identification, case management, and treatment of mothers with trauma-related disorders who are raising young children, and receiving child welfare preventive services to reduce the risk of repeat maltreatment and to improve positive parenting.

The Project Clinician/Therapist will deliver an evidence-based mental health treatment for mothers in preventive services with histories of trauma/PTSD. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess new referrals to the project 
  • Deliver manualized mental health intervention in child welfare settings
  • Coordinate intervention delivery with agency staff and clients
  • Maintain fidelity to the intervention guidelines and ensure client engagement
  • Maintain session notes, project assessments and coordinate with project coordinator regarding data requirements
  • Comply with current IRB regulatory requirements and procedures, including continuing education on ethics and conduct of research, consenting and assenting clients according to IRB standard guidelines and maintaining regulatory binder.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to staff from contract agencies
  • Assist with project management and organization
  • Assist with database management and data analysis
  • Assist with papers and presentations
  • Participate in staff meetings and case discussions

 

Qualifications:

  • LMSW, LCSW, PhD, or PsyD licensed or license eligible in the state of New York
  • 3 years of clinical experience providing evidence based clinical interventions
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) required
  • Experience with research, project management, and collection of research assessments is a plus
  • Knowledge of evidence-based trauma interventions and child welfare
  • Flexibility around work hours is preferred; willingness to travel to the agency sites. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and team work skills
