The Youth Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day to day operations of the Opportunity Youth and Out of School Youth: Supported Work Experience programs at St Nicks Alliance Workforce Development Center.  The goal of these youth program is to provide youth who are not in school/working with a combination of training, industry certification, paid work experience, work readiness training, career counseling, and transformational coaching.  The coordinator will match youths’ ages 16-24 with their interest and provide career exploration.  The Youth Coordinator will play a critical role in conducting program intake, career coaching, building Internship placement sites, handling administrative tasks, program/funder reporting and conducting workplace readiness workshops. 

A key innovation in St. Nicks Alliance Career Development Center/Youth Training Network will be the provision of Transformational Coaching, intensive 1-1 support for out-of-school youth who face multiple challenges and barriers to sustained employment over time. For each out-of-school youth an initial assessment will create will create a Career Plan which will include: 1) Basic Education; 2) Workplace Readiness Skills and 3) Technical Skills Training. The Youth Coordinator will serve as a Case Manager/transformational coach and will guide participants through the stages of the program to enable them to maintain positive behaviors and meet plan deliverable/goals. They will provide support and direction that help client overcome obstacles and develop skills to do so independently in the future. Their success will be measured by enrollment, completion of the Career Plan, Skill Training, and Certifications. However, our key metric will be the number of participants who are sustained in employment over time.

Responsibilities include:

·Managing and inspiring a caseload of up to 65 clients

·Determine customer eligibility for workforce services through intake and individual and group assessment processes

·Develop individualized Career Plans and monitor/inspire clients to reach goals and milestones (education and employment goals). Cultivate and make internal and external referrals for services as needed and provide regular follow-up.

·Conduct intensive one-on-one coaching sessions. Be participants’ primary motivator and coordinator for education and career advancement goals

·Responsible for developing a diversity of valuable Internship Worksite Opportunities, matching Opportunity Youth clients and employer/Intern host relationships. 

·Facilitate weekly Workplace Success workshops. 

·Responsible for regular update of case notes. Minimum two per month. 

·Ensure all internship paperwork is submitted in a timely fashion, is complete, accurate and has proper approval.  

·Recruit, place and support 43 interns per year working 10 hours per week on the Opportunity Youth Contract. 

·Responsible for delivering post-employment and retention services, maintaining and tracking graduates. Hold periodic one –on one meeting’s with employed graduates to ascertain goals, on –the job problems and any other potential barrier to continued employment.

·Work closely with program staff to review client progress, challenges and outcomes.

·Monitor participant attendance and performance in all program activities. Conduct outreach and crisis intervention where indicated.

·Attend case reviews, employment/retention reviews and other necessary meetings on a regular basis.

·Maintain case records in accordance with program standards.

·Enter all data in ETO and Capricorn in real-time.  

·Other duties/tasks may be assigned as needed

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Counseling, Education, or Social Work and 3-5 years of job-related experience preferably in workforce, youth or similar services. Excellent organizational interpersonal skills are required; must have strong communication, writing and computer skills. Experience working with low income job seekers; proven ability to work as part of a team; ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines, ability to work some evenings. 

Level of Language Proficiency

Fluency in English/Spanish helpful.
