The American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) supports cancer research and promotes early detection, emphasizing the outstanding resources of Italy and the United States, recognizing world-class scientific excellence in medicine, and serving economically disadvantaged, medically underserved New Yorkers through cancer screening, outreach, and education.

AICF is seeking a Part-time Outreach Coordinator to support its Mobile, Free Prostate Cancer Screening Program. Working in partnership with community-based organizations, AICF works to raise awareness of prostate cancer early detection by providing free PSA blood tests to economically disadvantaged, medically underserved New Yorkers. The position is 20-25 hours per week and includes weekends.

Reporting to the Director of Cancer Screening, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for meeting AICF’s screening goals by recruiting host sites, scheduling screening events, and conducting outreach activities.

    Primary Responsibilities:

Coordinating 50 Screening Events Per Year

      • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations in high-need neighborhoods to host screening events.
      • Ensure that host sites have the support they need to recruit patients for prostate cancer screening events.
      • Create outreach materials tailored to each site’s needs.
      • Attend screenings on weekdays and weekends.

    Community Outreach

      • Conduct community outreach to ensure each site meets screening goals.
      • Attend community events and health fairs to promote the program and events.
      • Represent AICF at coalition meetings and community events.

    Data Collection

      • Assist with data collection and program tracking.
      • Monitor the effectiveness of each screening site by location and patient recruitment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

      • Knowledge of, or interest in, men’s health issues and a desire to serve hard-to-reach/underserved populations.
      • High energy, “can do” attitude, persistence, and a sense of humor.
      • Strong communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
      • Comfort working both independently and as part of a small, mission-driven team.
