TNTP seeks a full-time People Operations Associate for our People Operations Team. This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Travel for team and organizational meetings is required a few times a year once we have lifted our organizational travel pause.

TNTP's People Operation team delivers core HR services and partnership to support our most important asset: Our People. We are a small team working to ensure TNTP’s policies and processes enable the organization to operate in compliance and with efficiency as a multi-state employer, and support and advance the organization’s sustainability and equity goals. We use Workday to support the core services we provide to employees, and it is a critical part of our quality and efficiency. 

 

What You’ll Do 

As the People Operations Associate, you will support employee lifecycle processing, leave of absence and benefits functions.  Specific responsibilities include: 

 

Coordinate leaves of absence and process employee benefits  

  • Execute processes for new hires, exits, and LOA (e.g., drafting letters and emails to staff, separation/release agreements) 
  • Communicate with and respond in a timely and service-oriented way to staff questions about policies, processes, leave and other benefits 
  • Coordinate with our LOA vendor to ensure strong employee experience with TNTP’s leave benefit 
  • Complete monthly benefit invoicing and assist with calculations and quality checks for reconciliation 

 

Provide Workday reporting and maintenance support  

  • Generate routine reports in Workday to support employee lifecycle and benefits operations 
  • Support regular maintenance, ongoing improvements and updates to HCM and Benefits components of Workday 

 

Focus on continuous improvement of customer service and benefits processing 

  • Support HR policy implementation and updates, including learning and understanding the intersectionality of various state and federal leave laws and TNTP’s policies 
  • Assist with identifying, summarizing, and implementing city and state mandated paid leave laws 
  • Perform quality checks on benefits and LOA pay and troubleshoot routine issues from staff and vendors 
  • Support discrete projects focused on improving efficiency, quality, and staff experience of People Operations, as needed

  • Have a customer service mindset. You’ll regularly connect and collaborate with employees and your colleagues, building strong relationships and providing a high level of support.  
  • Learn and adapt to new information and changes quickly. You can master new information as it becomes available, implement changes, and execute on a quick timeline. You’re comfortable using and adapting to new technologies and systems.  
  • Build relationships. You’ll regularly partner with internal team members and external vendors. You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities. Bilingual abilities are a plus. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in benefits administration and/or leave of absence is required. Experience with a multi-state employer is a plus 
  • Prior experience with HCM and Benefits components of Workday (required) 
  • Intermediate Excel skills (required) 
  • Experience working with California employment, benefits and leave processes (strongly preferred) 
  • Prior experience using both a help desk system (e.g., Zendesk, JIRA) and MS SharePoint (preferred) 
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, organization and time management skills 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills, with ability to adapt style to situations as needed  
  • The ability to learn quickly, work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively  
  • Professionalism, discretion and good judgment 
  • Strong commitment to excellent customer service
