MATHCOUNTS, the nation's premiere nonprofit dedicated to middle school mathematics, is seeking a Communications Manager to help us deliver on our mission to provide engaging math programs to US middle school students to build their confidence and improve their attitudes about math and problem solving.

The Communications Manager will have the following job responsibilities:

  • Promote and increase participation in each of the three MATHCOUNTS programs
  • Identify new, effective methods of connecting with future, current and past participants
  • Develop all marketing materials, including mass emails, mailings and digital/print newsletters
  • Write content to support fundraising efforts
  • Oversee and update website content
  • Improve and develop the organization’s social media presence
  • Coordinate with sponsors and public relations firm to support media relations for a large national event
  • Maintain and develop the MATHCOUNTS brand through cohesive messaging across all organization content

The candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Creativity to generate exciting new ideas
  • Polished presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to excel in a team setting and flexibility to ensure completion of team goals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign (or other desktop publishing software) and all major social media platforms


The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Degree in Marketing, Business or Communications
  • Proven track record in developing and administering a marketing program
  • Public relations/media relations experience
  • Experience in publication design and content creation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Salesforce and MailChimp
  • Experience updating Drupal websites
  • Experience creating video content with PowerDirector or similar programs
