POSITION SUMMARY 

Aim High is seeking a seasoned educator to lead Aim High’s efforts to strengthen and expand pathways to the field of education for teachers of color. This is a newly elevated position in the organization, giving the Director of the Aspiring Teacher Program an exciting and compelling opportunity to build on one of Aim High’s core strengths and deepen its impact. The Director of the Aspiring Teacher Program will lead the design and implementation of programming to support all pre-credential Aim High summer educators - from high school interns to lead teachers. They will also build and maintain partnerships with Bay Area districts and credentialing programs to support aspiring teachers in navigating the various pathways into the field of education, as well as strengthen Aim High’s summer recruitment. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Specific duties include but are not limited to: 

● Design and launch research-backed programming to support aspiring teachers and teacher education. 

● Research and analyze the challenges to attaining teaching credentials or jobs in the field of education, particularly for people of color. 

● Develop clear and meaningful metrics to track program quality and progress. ● Manage Aspiring Teacher Program budget. 

● Build professional development opportunities, grounded in culturally responsive practices, to support the professional and personal growth of aspiring, as well as seasoned educators. ● Lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of High School Interns and Assistant Teachers.

● Build and maintain partnerships with post-secondary institutions, alternative credentialing programs, and local districts to support: increased attainment of teaching credentials and positions for aspiring teachers, particularly from historically underrepresented or marginalized communities; and Aim High summer teacher recruitment. 

● Represent Aim High to potential donors interested in teacher education and pipeline work. ● Serving as a member of the Leadership team, provide input on organization-wide issues. ● This position has the potential to take on leading Aim High’s educational leadership pipeline program. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission of Aim High and have at least 8 years of professional experience. 

● Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 5 years of experience as a direct service provider in education or youth work. Master’s Degree in education and/or teaching credential a plus. ● Knowledge of teacher credentialing programs in the Bay Area and Northern California. ● Experience facilitating adult learning, and activating groups towards common goals. ● Experience designing, implementing, coordinating programs. 

● Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders. 

● Clear understanding, analysis, and practice in social justice education, including strong grounding in culturally responsive pedagogy. 

● Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

● Team player, creative problem-solver, entrepreneurial spirit, genuine passion for Aim High’s mission. 

● Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as a high level of cultural competence. 

JOB DETAILS 

● Reports To: Vice President, Strategy and Learning 

● Job Location: This individual will need to be able to be at the San Francisco office or Oakland imcb roughly 2-3 days/week when the team is back in the office 

● Classification: Exempt 

● Hours/Week: 40 hours with some evenings and weekends 

● Pay: Compensation will be $105,000 to $115,000 annually and commensurate with experience ● Benefits: Generous benefits that include Medical/Dental/Retirement Matching/Paid Sick and Vacation Time
