Amnesty International - Group 75 Atlanta, Georgia
Every month for nearly twenty years AI Group 75 members have been gathering around the Atlanta area to do human rights work. "What is human rights work?" you might ask. There is not a simple answer to this question. But generally speaking, we AI members try to prove that the pen is mightier than the sword by writing letters to various governments and leaders around the world in defense of political prisoners. Over the past few years we have worked on specific human rights cases in South Korea, Guatemala and the former South Africa. Presently we are working for the release of former Nigerian Head of State Olusegun Obasanjo from prison.
We feel that AI Group 75 is one of the most vibrant Amnesty chapters in the country. Our monthly meetings- usually comprised of a pot-luck, a guest lecture and a short discussion of our ongoing work- are well attended, interesting and fun. We consider ourselves a large family with a shared interest in making this imperfect world a bit better. New faces are always welcome,
