Democracy Aid is a campaign network and non profit think tank founded in Stockholm, Sweden, November 2, 2003. Our original mission was to encourage the citizens of the world to interfere in the 2004 U.S. presidential election campaign. We had a web site called democracyaid.net and later worked with other groups under the theworldspeaks.net umbrella.
In 2005 we mainly tried to encourage debates on democratic responses to terrorism. One our activities was a Stockholm Madrid 11M meeting held in cooperation with openDemocracy.net.
Our present focus is the democracy deficit of the European Union. On top of our list is to open up the debate on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). We have therefore in January 2006 cofounded www.citizenCAP.org a brand new European citizens' initiative.
