Support Hotline at Portage Path Behavioral Health

About Us

Do you want to help people in crisis? The SUPPORT Hotline of Portage Path Behavioral Health is a 24/7 crisis intervention hotline. Our volunteer crisis line workers manage crisis calls to both the SUPPORT Hotline and local calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. We respond to calls from people experiencing all types of crisis and those worried about someone else, some of whom may be experiencing thoughts of suicide.

We are looking for people over the age of 21 who are:

• looking for a rewarding way to be of help to others

• empathic and nonjudgmental

• calm under pressure

• open to learning new ways to communicate

The application process includes an interview, background check and references. If accepted, volunteers complete a 50+ hour training program that prepares volunteers to respond to the most challenging of calls with confidence. After training, we ask for a one-year service commitment.
