Sisimpur is a multi-media education initiative designed to meet the leaning needs of 3- to 6-year-old children in Bangladesh. The project began in 2004 and provides content on basic skills such as literacy, math, and science, as well as health, hygiene, nutrition, and safety; respect, understanding, tolerance, and diversity; family, community, and group relations; and common art, culture, and heritage. Educational messages are distributed on television through the popular and award-winning Sisimpur television show and through print via an educational outreach campaign. The project is produced by Sesame Workshop in New York and Nayantara Communications in Bangladesh. Funding for Sisimpur has been made possible through the generous support of USAID, the United States Agency for International Development.
