  • Mission

Jubilee Housing’s mission is to build diverse, compassionate communities that create opportunities for everyone to thrive. We envision a city and a world where access to basic resources and opportunities are available to all people and where people live out these opportunities in the context of supportive community. Our contribution is to create and sustain a segment of this larger vision in our local community in the Nation’s Capital, and from this experience, influence change more broadly.

    About Us

Jubilee Housing provides safe, decent and affordable rental housing to low-income families and individuals in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. Jubilee Housing was founded in 1973 when volunteers from an ecumencial church, the Church of the Saviour, witnessed that poor families were being forced out of their homes. This group purchased an renovated two neglected and trash-ridden apartment buildings in order to preserve the homes of its tenants. Today Jubilee Housing operates eight buildings and houses more than 850 individuals. Jubilee Housing works collaboratively with other non-profits that offer job training, child care and medical care to residents. In this way the organization strives to follow Reverend Gordon Cosby's vision of a wholistic, supporting community in which the poor can achieve stability and financial self-sufficiency.
