About Us

Mano Amiga Mexico Mission is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian group that has aided people in need in Mexico for over 15 years. Currrently Mano Amiga has 2 Mission projects in Mexico. La Frontera in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, on the US/Mexico border where displaced persons are given a few nights of shelter and food; a job-skills training program has been started. Other Mission is in the Yucatan (still recovering from Hurricane Gilbert, 1988). Mano Amiga facilitates groups that provide non-skilled volunteer labor and materials to build concrete roofs on owner-built homes, providing protection from the next tormenta. We work in Mayan villages. School & church groups as well as individuals & families are welcome. Males & females welcome; age is not a problem. The only requirements are a sense of humor, sense of adventure and a willingness to help others. Construction projects are in Feb. and March. Over 45 roofs completed this year.
