CCMS AmeriCorps Leadership & Educational Attainment Project (LEAP)
Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) has estalished a comprehensive education and leadership development AmeriCorps project through funding from the New York State Commission on National and Community Service entitled:The Leadership & Educational Attainment Project(LEAP).
Like other AmeriCorps programs across the United States, LEAP engages people of all ages and backgrounds in addressing their community needs. CCM's cadre of members are part of the 50,000 AmeriCorps members across the nation that serve the country,focusing their efforts in areas of educational, environment,public safety,and human needs.
Through AmeriCorps LEAP, CCM advances its mission of empowering youth and adults from Central Brooklyn by engaging them in critical community building efforts focused around education, health and leadership development. CCM AmeriCorps LEAP is based at CCM's Medition Center located at 810 Classon Ave.
CCM AmeriCorps LEAP is currently searching for individuals who are interested in working with children, youth, parents and the community. Our program will begin late August 2004 and will end late June 2005. It's a 10 month part-time position. In return for their service and commitment AmeriCorps members receive:
- Living allowance(minimum of $5,000 over the 10 months)
- Training and Career Skills Development
- Education Award of 2,362.50 (after completing 900 hours)
- Loan Forbearance (if eligible)
