American Board of Examiners in Pastoral Counseling
ABEPC, c/o Corp. Mgt. Trust
13014 Dale Mabry N #363
Using rigorous standards and examination, ABEPC certifies ministers and institutions that practice professionally in pastoral counseling. Certification reflects a candidate's practice orientation, plus earned accredited degrees or equivalent professional training, internship, ongoing personal psychotherapy, written examination, and, when available, written authority from a denomination to practice PC. Certified counselors must continue professional studies, and clinicians must teach or supervise counselors to retain certification. A pastoral counselor bridges between pastors and psychologists by combining a seminary degree with substantial studies or a degree in psychology or counseling, with concomitant experience: all directed to healing both mind and spirit by either short term, Bible based counseling, or by proper referral to other professional help.
